Small Angel

I can't believe someone would do this to you.

You still trust after so much betrayal.

Skinny, balding, having never had a real meal in your life.

But so filled with love and excitement for life.

You deserve better.

You deserve a massive home.

Surrounded by people who talk to you.

Someone to curl up next to when you're scared.

Someone to tap with your little hand when you need something.

Clean bedding.

Healthy food whenever you're hungry.

Love.

But instead you were left in a small, wet box.

Alone.

Never experiencing what it felt like to be touched on the cheek and told that you're beautiful.

That you're a tiny little angel.

That is so, so strong and smart and wonderful.

With a halo of whiskers.

And the most forgiving heart I have ever seen.

You will never know a day without love.

Not anymore.

And are the prime example of why rats are better than people.
