Positive Touches

You're supposed to have 8 to 10 positive touches a day

Whether it be a hug or a bat on the back or a high five or a kiss on the forehead

My count for the past two weeks has come up to a whopping zero

People are supposed to need human contact

But when it's safest to be at home

And you live alone

You're stuck

Trapped in isolation

With technology making you crave it more

You can talk through a screen

And see the people from a distance

Who have in-person company built into their lives

A roommate, a partner, a family

You see the world through a bubble

Everything you wish you could have through a pane of glass

As I'm stuck for another two weeks

In a prison built buy disease

When this is over

I hope you're still here

So I can overwhelm you with affection

Hug you and never let go

Because I would kill for one positive touch right now
