going through the motions

on autopilot

there but not there

present but absent

no heart in the game

but playing cause its

what they expect of you

don't wanna let them down

it hurts you

you die inside a little more

each time

but you do it anyway

cause that's how you were trained

that's what they ingrained in you

indoctrinated since birth

its like your religion

its how you define the world

cause you see everyone

going through the same motions

no joy no life behind their eyes

they have been in it too long

like soldiers returning home

they are never the same again

no one understands

except for the ones

who are in it themselves

you pity them

you are them

you hate yourself

but that isn't new

just gives another reason

that you didn't need
