Extra Time

Today was a leap day

A whole extra day to waste

But today, I felt more accomplished than usual

I got a formerly neglected animal into a loving home

I kissed my pets good morning and shared toaster waffles and pizza rolls with them

I showered

I put on comfy clothes

I hung out with one of the people I adore most in this world

And listened to them make amazing music

And watched Netflix

And lounged about

Under glowing green Christmas lights that made me feel stunning

Even in my lazy day pants

And pet some cool animals

And I went home and got my mail

Found the copy of Shaq Fu I ordered

And cried

Because it was such a good day

And the perfect way to end it

Was with Shaq in my mailbox
