Legal punishment,

For being who they are.

We demonize people who are

Different than us.

People who are not

The governor of Texas

And its Attorney General

Sent an order

For Child Protective Services

To investigate parents

Of trans children

If they try to give them

Gender confirmation healthcare;

If they try to help them

Be themselves.

They are calling it child abuse.

The governor can be himself

He gets to be his bigoted,

ignorant self everyday.

But that is not something

A trans person can be?

Why?

It makes no sense.

It is singling out a small group

And deeming them less than,

Because of who they are.

Haven't we learned by now?

Shouldn't we be past

The demonization of another

Human being?

I am not a parent.

But if I was,

I would want my kid to be

The best version of themselves.

The same thing I wish for myself.

In Texas,

This is something

That they want to outlaw these people.

They want to punish people

For helping others.

They want to control your lives,

Make you a model citizen

Emphasis on the model.

Where things that do not fit
